Tourism in Beijing
Beijing has an abundance of historical sites and parks, which are matchless in China and enjoy an excellent reputation worldwide. Those attractions will keep participants occupied throughout their stay.

The Great Wall: The Great Wall, one of the world's wonders, stretches for hundreds of miles in the Beijing area. It was constructed about 2500 years ago, across mountains and deserts. The wall is six to seven meters tall and wide enough for five people on horseback to ride side-by-side. One of the most impressive stretches is at Badaling, which is only 59 kilometers away from Beijing. The Great Wall was added to the world cultural heritage list in 1987.

The Forbidden City:The Forbidden City is located at the exact center of the ancient city of Beijing. The buildings of the Forbidden City served as the residence of 24 emperors of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The Forbidden City is the most completely preserved wood-structured building groups in China, representing the most glorious crystallization of ancient architectural art. It is also China's biggest museum. The Forbidden City was declared a World Heritage Site in 1987.

The Summer Palace: The Summer Palace in northwest suburban Beijing is the largest and most complete imperial garden existing in China. It occupies an area of 304 hectares and features hilly and water scenery. The Kunming Lake makes up four-fifths of this royal park. The Long Corridor running east-west along the lake as well as the Pavilion of the Fragrance of Buddha, the Sea of Wisdom, and the Hall of Dispelling the Clouds Suzhou Street standing south to north on the Longevity Hill are the major scenic spots. The Summer Palace was added to the world cultural heritage list in 1998.

The Temple of Heaven:The Temple of Heaven is another masterpiece of Ming architecture.Emperors of the Ming and Qing Dynasties used the temples to perform sacrificial ceremonies in worship of the heavens. The buildings in the Temple of Heaven are round, like Heaven (one can imagine the sky as like a rounded dome), while the foundations and axes of the complex are square (or 2 dimensional - that is, flat),like the earth (appears to be).The Temple of Heaven was added to the World Heritage List in 1998.
