Social Program and Technical tours
A social program will be prepared to welcome the participants and to help them better understand China and Beijing's culture, including Chinese food. The welcoming reception and a "Beijing Night" dinner show (Farewell Banquet) will be part of the Social Program. Pre- or Post Congress Tours will also be prepared to enable the participants to see with their own eyes the agricultural and rural life of China. Scenic and cultural sites will be included in the proposed routes of the technological tours, such as the Great Wall, the Forbidden City, the Summer Palace, etc. in Beijng, and further afield, Xian, Guilin, Hangzhou and Suzhou, which are among China's most popular tourist destinations. With daily flights from Beijing to these cities, as well as to most big international cities, travel is very convenient (http://old.cnta.gov.cn/lyen).
Tourism in Beijing
Beijing has an abundance of historical sites and parks, which are matchless in China and enjoy an excellent reputation worldwide. Those attractions will keep participants occupied throughout their stay. A number of tours in Beijing will be arranged.
The Great Wall
The Great Wall, one of the world's wonders, stretches for hundreds of miles in the Beijing area. It was constructed about 2500 years ago, across mountains and deserts. The wall is six to seven meters tall, and wide enough for five people on horseback to ride side-by-side. One of the most impressive stretches is at Badaling, which is only 59 kilometers away from Beijing.
The Forbidden City
The buildings of the Forbidden City served as the residence of 24 emperors of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The Forbidden City is the most completely preserved wood-structured building groups in China, representing the most glorious crystallization of ancient architectural art. It is also China's biggest museum.
The Temple of Heaven
The Temple of Heaven is another masterpiece of Ming architecture. Emperors of the Ming and Qing Dynasties used the temples to perform sacrificial ceremonies in worship of the heavens. It is one of the most popular sites in Beijing.
The Summer Palace
The Summer Palace is the most completely preserved imperial garden in China. In summer, a cool breeze comes over the Kunming Lake, which covers nearly three quarters of the park. The park has some 3000 rooms and halls, which were used as residences, reception halls and temples. There are also many lovely paths around the lake and between the pavilions and temples on the Longevity Hill.

Tourism in other cities
Xian
Previously called Changan, Xian is one of China's six ancient capital cities. Just outside of Xian is the tomb of Emperor Qin shihuang (259-219BC). One of the world's greatest archeological sites, the tomb is best known for the some 6000 large terra-cotta soldiers and horses buried in the tomb. Visitors to Xian can also visit famous sites like the Shanxi Museum of History, the ancient city wall, the Banpo Neolithic Village, and the Big and Little Goose Pagodas.
Guilin
Located on the Li River, Guilin is famous for its beautiful scenery- the misty, mysterious, steeply-rising mountains depicted in traditional Chinese paintings. There are many beautiful places to see there, such as the Solitary Beauty Peak, the Whirlpool Hill, the Reed Flute Cave, and the Seven Star Park.
Hangzhou
Situated around the beautiful West Lake, Hangzhou is popularly referred to in China as "a Heaven on the Earth". There are many places to visit, including the Temple of Inspired Seclusion, the Mausoleum of General Yue Fei, the Six Harmonies Pagoda, the Silk Grafts factory, and the Zhejiang Provincial Museum.
Suzhou
One of the oldest cities in the Yangtse Basin, Suzhou is said to epitomize the charm of Southern China. Called "the Venice of the East " by the explorer Marco Polo, the city prides itself on its canals and gardens. Artistically designed with rocks, plants and water, the enchanting gardens include the Humble Administrator's Garden, the Garden to Linger In, and the Garden of Harmony. Architectural styles characteristic of various dynasties including the Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing can all be found in Suzhou. In addition, Suzhou has been one of the nation's top silk producers since the 14th Century.
